Wait on the Lord
(© 1996 Tammy Ann Winn ~ ASCAP)
It’s late at night and I can’t fall asleep
My little white dog is making faces at me
I wish I could quiet all these questions in my head
And find a way to get to bed
I work strange hours making my living with a song
Sometimes it’s so hard to know just where I belong
I try to find some peace of mind just lying here in prayer
I cry out to God that I care
I will wait on the Lord, to hold out his hand
I will wait on the Lord, to help me understand
What this life, what this love, should really mean
Yes I will wait on the Lord patiently
Sometimes I wish I had a mentor beside me
To tell me right from wrong, and to help me see clear
But I know it’s not that easy to determine black and white
The best I can do is live in the light
I will wait on the Lord, to hold out his hand
I will wait on the Lord, to help me understand
What this life, what this love, should really mean
Yes I will wait on the Lord patiently
Too often in this world I see things that make me hopeless
And then I have to strive to not lose my focus
That this world holds a promise of eternal life
And sometimes we’ve got to struggle, yeah, sometimes we’ve got to fight
I will wait on the Lord, to hold out his hand
I will wait on the Lord, to help me understand
What this life, what this love, should really mean
Yes I will wait on the Lord patiently
Oh yeah, I will wait on the Lord patiently
Oh yeah, I will wait on the Lord patiently
